History and tradition
Already in 1110 A.D. the Val di Fiemme Valley was considered kind of a republic. "Magnifica Comunità di Fiemme" was the name of the valley. Now the Val di Fiemme Valley is a part of the Trentino region and it is renowned for its rural traditions, cuisine and architecture. But there are also some aristocratic buildings: for example the Palazzo in Cavalese, where also the bishops of Trentino used to spend their summer holidays. Since 1850 the Palazzo has been the representative seat of the valley community.
On Alpe Cermis – Cavalese’s local mountain - there are usually very good snow conditions. The great view to the most famous peaks of the Dolomites directly from the slopes also contributes to a perfect ski-day.
Just above Predazzo the Val di Fiemme Valley is connected with the ski resort Latemar. Another gateway into the ski resort Latemar is in Pampeago. Beginners usually ski on the sunny southern ski runs of the Alpe Lusia above Bellamonte.
